MEMBERSHIP

The Commission shall consist of seventeen voting members.  It shall be composed of San Mateo County residents at least 60% of whom are age 60 or older.  Members shall reflect the geographic, racial, ethnic, economic and social composition of the County.  The total composition must include at least one member who represents interests of the disabled.  A health care provider and a supportive services provider must be represented.  These requirements are to be complied with as vacancies occur.  Any individual elected to be a Senior Legislator for participation in the California Senior Legislature Program and who is not a member of the Commission, shall become a non-voting member of the Commission upon election as a Senior Legislator, and shall serve until the term as Senior Legislator expires.

TERMS

3 years; maximum of 12 years

DUTIES

Advises the Board of Supervisors, develops and conducts programs in conformity with specific provisions of the Older Americans Act of 1965 subject to approval of the Board of Supervisors.
