For the initial appointment of members, six members shall be appointed to serve three year terms and five members shall be appointed to serve two year terms. Thereafter, each of the terms shall be three year terms.
Advise the Board of Supervisors as to the promotion of programs that foster the well-being and civic participation of LGBTQ individuals in San Mateo County; The provision of outreach and support to at-risk and underserved LGBTQ populations within San Mateo County, including youth, communities of color, non-English speakers, older adults, and immigrants; the promotion of transgender inclusion among private and public entities in San Mateo County including access to health care and to gendered spaces such as bathrooms and shelters; the development of initiatives to support LGBTQ families with children in San Mateo County; the provision of a public forum for input from the LGBTQ community to identify unmet needs; Report and make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors regarding policies, programs, procedures and legislation affecting LGBTQ individuals.
